Taqarub scored a wire to wire victory in the Grade 3 Maryland Sprint hcp at Pimlico, on Preakness day.
Meanwhile,Tajaaweed scored an impressive victory in an allowance at Arlington Park. He is being pointed toward the Arlington Park hcp (G2) in July. Both wintered in Camden, SC.
Moojab continues to come back from sore shins following a 3rd place finish at Oaklawn. Trainer Danny Peitz is evaluating where the colt is at, before giving up the Derby path. Meanwhile Cuvee Uncorked was beaten in a 3 horse photo finish in the Barbara Fritchie (G2) at Laurel.
Hattaash (Strong hope) broke his maiden Monday, January 18th, at Oaklawn park. The 3 year old trained by Danny Peitz, and ridden by Larry Melancon, won for maiden special weights going a mile over the "good" dirt course. It was his second start.
**an update to Cuvee Uncorked's great start to her career is a recent 3rd place finish in a $70,000 stake at Laurel.
Kahkola Racing grad Cuvee Uncorked made another good showing with a third place finish in the Top Flight Hcp (G2) at Aqueduct. She finished 4 1/4 lengths behind Sarah Louise and Justwhistledixie.
Kahkola Racing graduate Cuvee Uncorked (Sealedwithapproval) made it 3 out of 4 with a victory in the Poker night stakes at Aqueduct on Saturday (Nov.1). Her only defeat came in grade 3 company at Belmont Park, where she finished 2nd.
Shadwell Farms Hatheer (Storm Cat-Golden Apples) finished a respectable 4th in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on Friday (Nov.6).
After a second in a maiden race at Belmont, Muhaaseb (Ghostzapper) scored a handy victory at Aqueduct Friday (Nov.6).Just a week earlier, another Camden graduate, Moojab (Smarty Jones) broke his maiden (on first try) for trainer Danny Peitz.
Shadwell's Camden graduates made a good account for themselves at the '09 Saratoga meeting. On the weekend of August 22nd & 23rd,Bashoosha and Muhaawara finished 3rd and 2nd, respectively, in their maiden debuts. Hatheer (who wintered in Dubai) finished 2nd in her 5 1/2 furlong debut, only to return with an impressive 5 length victory around 2 turns on the Saratoga turf. Two more SC grads also made their debut. Baatesh & Keeneland Breeze finished off the board, but showed promise for a future at a longer distance. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin was pleased with all the efforts.
It is with a very heavy heart that we have to report the passing of Shadwell stables trainer Bob Witham. Bob was a great friend to my wife Jennifer and I. He will be missed, greatly, by those who were ever touched by this wonderful man. Bob was removed from life support on Wednesday (12/17) after being paralyzed from the neck down, following a fall (the previous Friday) at the Camden Training Center. Bob was very active in the community, and was proud of Camden, South Carolina. He was the head patrol judge for the annual Colonial and Carolina Cup steeplchase races ( a position that he did voluntarily). Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Bob's friends and family.
Kahkola Racing graduate Federal Hill (owned by David Caprio and trained by Alan Bedard) finished 2nd, beaten only 3/4 of a length in his debut at Philadelphia Park, Saturday 8/30.
Diddle In The Wind, who wintered with Kahkola Racing in Camden, SC, scored a 4 length maiden win at Indiana Downs on the turf on July 7th. Congratulations to Joe and Jim Dodgen.
